Horticultural Alpine Grit Handy Pack from Kelkay

The Horticultural Alpine Grit has many purposes, from layering paths to breaking up clay soil, marking out seed beds and Alpine plants. The grit can be used to add detail and character to your garden.

Alpines are generally native to rocky soils and sunny locations, but these conditions can be exploited in contains and troughs.
Use compost and Horticultural Alpine Grit in equal parts to within 12.7cm (5in) of the rim. Finish with a top layer of grit to prevent leaves from rotting.

When using as a top dressing, a deep collar of Horticultural Alpine Grit applied around plants will help to conserve moisture and reduce the risk of stem rot.
Grit can also help to reduce weed growth and compost collapsing too quickly.

Other uses of the Horticultural Alpine Grit include creating pathways, bed mulch and can even be used to deter slugs.
